The painting and this photograph beg the question WHY.

The painting was undoubtedly created during one of the darkest periods of my life. I thought that I couldn't find the motivation to keep on keeping on. Then remembering that my life was not just my own and belonged also to those I loved and loved me back - I'd keep up the good fight.
Art is indeed a catharsis; I could spend my time healing while also making this dark painting which asks “WHY would I contemplate such draconian outcomes”; I believe the photo together with its title says everything I need to say further about it.

I would nevertheless like to say that here it is more than 18 years later and I am in the happiest period of my life largely because I am loved / love and am still actively pursuing my creativity.

The answer to the question then is: ART has an amazing power to heal and that love can motivate us to gladly keep on going.
